M.M. Mohamed Mafas is a seasoned civil engineer with over 19 years of specialized experience in the development of mini and small hydropower projects. Since joining Vidullanka PLC in 2006 as a site manager, he has grown alongside the company to his current role as Chief Civil Engineer. His expertise lies in design, feasibility studies, and implementation of hydropower plants. His contributions span Vidullanka’s operations in Sri Lanka and overseas, with a notable portfolio that includes the Muvumbe and Bukinda hydropower plants (6.5MW each) in Uganda and the projects commissioned under the EPC contract with the GEA in Guyana.
Mafas brings a wealth of experience in project layout planning, energy generation calculations, cost estimation, and stakeholder engagement. He has been instrumental in identifying viable hydro sites in countries including Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, and Indonesia.
Mafas is a member of the Institute of Incorporated Engineers Sri Lanka. He holds a National Diploma in Technology from the University of Moratuwa and brings a strong focus on sustainable and technically sound energy solutions.
