Cyclone Ditwah was an overwhelming test of resilience for Sri Lanka, following the devastating floods and landslides left in the cyclone’s wake. For Vidullanka, the Rideepana, Lower Kotmale and Udawela plant were completely inundated by flood waters. Our employees and the communities residing near some of our power plants had to urgently evacuate these areas.
In response, we initiated a Disaster Recovery plan to restore our plants while simultaneously providing relief to the affected communities in the surrounding areas. In two weeks, we were back on our feet, with our plants ready to generate clean energy.
This unified effort represents the true spirit of Vidullanka’s collective commitment to building a brighter, more resilient future for our nation and its people.
