“Nine tenths of education is encouragement” – Anatole France
On the 30th of April 2024, the Vidullanka team based at the Dehiattakandiya Dendro Power Plant hosted a mathematics seminar for 350 students in the area who are sitting for the Ordinary Level examination in May this year. Our very own Biomass engineers dedicated their knowledge, time and effort to conduct the seminar. The team also compiled the model paper used for this session, which was distributed to other schools in Dehiattakandiya as additional prep material for the students’ upcoming examinations.
This seminar marked the end of a six month period of sessions conducted under our CSR initiative “Vidu Saviya: Daruwanta Diriyak”, where lessons were held twice a week for 80 O Level students from 3 schools in the area. This particular project has been carried out for the past three years as a means of supporting students in the face of an ongoing insufficiency of maths teachers at schools in the area. The team also aimed to motivate all the students to succeed and equip them with knowledge of the practical uses of the lessons being taught.
We wish all the students the best of luck with their exams!
