Vidullanka PLC was recognised as an Honourable Mention at the ‘Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka’, an awards ceremony conducted by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in partnership with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Sri Lanka. The awards presentation presided over by the Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe on 25th September, 2019.
This awards programme recognises companies that outperform their peers in terms of financial performance as well as the value they create for shareholders, customers, employees and the general community.
Vidullanka PLC, a pioneer of the renewable energy industry in Sri Lanka, helped champion the cause of cleaner, greener, renewable energy, through the investments in hydro and other forms of renewable energy sources. The company was established as a BOI venture in 1997, and is among the first of its kind to specialise in the design and construction of mini hydro-power Projects and commissioned its first plant in 2001. Vidullanka has the distinction of being the first renewable energy company to be listed on The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in 2005. The Company recently commissioned 3.3MW Dehiattakandiya Dendro Power Project as its first step towards diversification. For the past 20 years, the company’s capacity has steadily grown and presently is at 29.75 MW, with a total energy supply exceeding 100GWh annually to the national grids.
Leveraging on the success the company is in the process of constructing its second overseas hydro power project in Uganda. With numerous projects in the pipeline, Vidullanka PLC is set to transform itself from being a local power developer to an international player.

2018 was an award winning year for Vidullanka. The company had the distinction of winning the Runners-Up Award under the infrastructure category at the National Business Excellence Awards. Also the Silver Award at National Green Awards for its commitment to environmental well-being. Moreover, Vidullanka PLC lead the implementation of 5S and Kaizen concepts among the industry and has consecutively won the Sector awards in the Taiki Akimoto 5S competition conducted by Japan-Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTECA) and also won National Green Awards in 2012, 2015 and 2016. The Company also won the Silver Award for its financial reporting for the annual report in 2014 from CA Sri Lanka & the runner up for 2016 for Sustainability Reporting of ACCA.
Now, Vidullanka PLC also has the distinction of being the only Power and Energy company to be recognised at ‘Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka’.
