Vidullanka PLC commissioned its 8th mini hydro power plant in Kotmale, Nuwara-Eliya. The Lower Kotmale Mini Hydro Power Project, with the installed capacity of 4 MW was connected to the national grid on 25th June 2014. The project annually generates and transmits 13.1GWh of environmentally friendly electricity under the standard power purchasing agreement with the Ceylon Electricity Board.

The Project Company, Lower Kotmale Minihydro Pvt Ltd is a joint venture between Vidullanka PLC and the Consortium of Investors led by Jaywise Constructions Ltd. The project utilizes the flow of Kotmale Oya and annually reduces the country's carbon emission by 8,225 tonnes. Vidullanka PLC continues to venture into the development of small hydro power projects both in Sri Lanka and overseas and have several projects in the pipeline.
